5 Easy Hydration Hacks To Help You Drink More Water This Winter

Before you suggest it, I’m not here to lecture you about why drinking water is important…

*welcomes sigh of relief*

I’m here to let you off the hook because I know that drinking enough is challenging, especially when it’s freezing outside!

So how, despite this, can you get yourself to ensure you keep your water intake topped up for peak health & peak performance?

We all know how important drinking enough water is. Around 60% of our bodies are made from water, and you’ve probably already been told if you’re feeling thirsty, you’re already dehydrated - it’s true!

So instead of lecturing you on the importance (which you’re already aware of) I’m here to help you out!

Here are my 5 easy hydration hacks to help you drink more water this winter.

1️⃣ Keep your water bottle within eyesight.

Sounds basic, and it is, but it really, really works! If you’re an office worker, keeping your water bottle on your desk within eyesight is one of the easiest ways to ensure you drink more. You’ll see your bottle, and that’ll trigger you to drink.

2️⃣ Add fruit

Adding fruit to your water will make it taste better, which in turn, will encourage you to drink more. I’m not talking about a boring wedge of lemon *eye roll* Try adding cucumber, mint or grapefruit for a zingy twist. You might come up with a delicious combination which becomes your new go-to (please share it with me!)

3️⃣ Drink with every meal

Every time you eat, drink a glass of water before or during your meal or snack. Not only will you increase your hydration, but it’ll also ease digestion.

4️⃣ Indulge in hot drinks

Now I’m not talking about a Pumpkin Spiced Latte (although they are yummy) lols. I’m talking about peppermint teas or other herbal or fruity hot drinks. When it’s cold outside, we crave warm drinks because they are comforting. But be mindful of caffeine content and calories.

5️⃣ Set a drinking alarm

No, before you start, this isn’t an “it’s 5pm somewhere” alarm… lol! This could be an alarm on your phone or a smartwatch. Setting the alarm is a great reminder to drink. But don’t turn it off until you’ve had a drink because if you’re anything like me, you’ll just forget (lol)

Now it’s over to you. I’m inviting you to to try ONE of these five tips to get you started.

Yours,

Dr Aileen
